"Mom, mom please don’t leave me." I whispered over my mom’s corpse. She had been sick with an extremely rare disease for a while and the disease had finally gone from bad to worse

"What am I supposed to do now? I’m 5 years old. You and dad both left me." I fell to the dirty wooden floor.

We never had much money. We lived in a small one room house. I got the only room to myself while my mom made a bed on the floor each night.

"Mom please."

"Its ok little one." said a gentle yet cold smooth voice. He picked me up in his arms. "I will take care of you." he was tall with short black hair. His skin was cold where it touched mine; his eyes were lifeless but with what looked like sorrow in them. He held me close to him as I cried.

I woke up and looked around the room. "Dang it I had that damn dream again." I normally didn’t dream but when I did it was of my earliest memory, when my mother had died. I could remember very few things from before that.

I only have one memory of my father and it was him swinging me around and both of us laughing. I don’t even remember his name or how he died. I have a few more of my mom but when she died was the clearest, another was both of us eating breakfast smiling and talking happily, we were eating scrambled eggs. I don’t remember anything that was being said, just that I was happy.

I sighed and crossed the dark room and grabbed some clean clothes and made my way to the bathroom to freshen up. I put on a black Miyavi t-shirt and black pants and I pulled my hair up into a loose bun.

"Akai, you awake?" Kyo said. Kyo was the son of Damien the man who took me in when my mother died. Damien only took me in because he was friends with my parents. And when my father died my mother made him promise to take care of me if something happened to her, or so he claims. Damien told me that neither of my parents knew what he was, and was sure that if they did that I probably wouldn’t be living with him. When Damien first took me in he hated me because he said I was too annoying, but since then he has learned to ignore me when I'm annoying.

Kyo was older than I was but he didn’t look it. Both him and his father where vampires, but they didn’t drink human blood.

"Yeah." I walked out to find a smiling Kyo standing next to my door. He picked me up and spun me around in a circle.

"How are you this morning?" he set me down and kissed the top of my head.

"Are you in a good mood this morning or what?" he nodded and grabbed my hand as we walked out of my room.

Damien lived in a huge mansion and a lot of the vampires that lived in Fujiyama lived in the house. The house didn’t stand out very much so it helped protect against vampire hunters. The house was light grey in color and was surrounded by a garden that turns into a dense forest. There were only a few humans that lived their and every once and awhile there will be more but they will disappear after a few days. Damien didn’t like it when other vampires would bring their prey to the house but never said anything about it.

"Hey Akai!" Nikolas said as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder.  I looked up and smiled, he had a couple drops of blood on his mouth. Nikolas was the type of vampire that fed off of humans but unless he was hungry he was usually nice.

"Enjoy your breakfast?" Kyo snarled adding a nasty growl at the end.

"Yeah I did actually." he said whipping away the blood with his free hand. "Sorry Akai." he smiled at me. "You still love me right?"

"Yeah of course I still love you Nikolas" Kyo let go of my hand and wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me towards him.

"What you actually think I would hurt her?" Nikolas said keeping his own arm on my shoulder.

"Well you feed on humans don’t you?" he asked "and why should I believe you won’t feed off her as well?"

“And you could lose control. And you could hurt her, ever think of that?” Nikolas snarled back, pulling me closer to him.

"Will you two stop it?!" I finally asked. I pushed off both of their arms and walked into the dinning room.

"Akai!" they both said as the door closed. Then turned to each other and continued to argue.

The room only had a few people. I didn’t recognize many of them.

The tables were all covered in food, as always.  The room was dark with only a single candle on the few tables. The room was a midnight blue color and the tables had either a black, dark red or dark purple tablecloth.

I went and sat at a table for and hour or so writing and watching the people in the room. I got up and grabbed something small to eat, feeling people’s eyes follow me. I returned to the table I had been sitting at hoping for some more peace to continue writing, but I was followed.

"Hello I'm Alice." one of the humans said, her voice was soft. She had short blond hair, that reached her shoulders and it looked like it was hastily cut, and crystal blue eyes.

"What are you doing here?" I asked feeling sorry for her. She was no older than 14 or 15. She was too young to die. Most of the humans that were brought here were older and most of the time homeless.

"Well I met this guy and he brought me here. He said I would be safe." she said. She was shaky like she was afraid to say too much. She sat next to me. Her clothes were dirty and she kept clutching at them with her hands.

"What’s his name?" I asked.

"Jagger," She replied softly.

"Hmm," I said. Jagger was a vampire who drank human blood and loved to kill and watch the life drain from his victims. I couldn’t stand him. "Stay away from him ok. And get out of this place." She looked at me with disbelief on her face.

"Why? I have no where else to go. And what’s wrong with Jagger?" she asked angrily.

"Nothing, he’s just not what you think he is." I replied. She got up and left and started talking to some of the other people across the room, every once and a while sending an annoyed glance at me.

I sat at the table for a while longer then got up. I walked around the garden, stopping at the pond to watch the multicolored koi happily swim around and chase each other. I walked around admiring the flowers and stopped to pick one of the black roses and put it in my hair. I then made my way to my secret spot out in the woods.

It was a small opening that had a fallen tree lying through the middle. There was knee high green grass swaying in the wind, and there was also little purple flowers growing among the grass. I stayed there long after the sun had set, watching nature. Butterflies flying, birds chirping and squirrels running up and down the trees.

I slowly got up and silently returned to the house.

"Hey!" Damien said. He was sitting on the porch of the house and stood when he noticed me coming. He looked exactly like he did on the day he rescued me. "Where did you run off to? You know those woods aren’t safe."

"Yeah just wanted to relax, it’s really peaceful out there.” I said. “I got news today about Jagger that didn’t make me to happy." I mumbled opening the door to the house and walking in, Damien following.

"What did he do?" Damien asked walking next to me. I was trying to avoid conversation by walking faster than normal, but he didn’t seem to notice and easily kept up with me.

"He brought his prey here and even had the nerve to tell her that she would be safe." I snapped walking up the stairs.

"Well that’s just Jagger for you." he replied. "It’s better than him feeding off of someone else who actually lives here."

"And it would be even better if he didn’t drink human blood at all!" I half screamed. Damien pulled me into a hug.

"It’s ok. It’s just something he does. Not all vampires can live off of animal blood. Maybe after time he can give up human blood." I nodded and Damien gave me a kiss on the top of my head. "Good night" he called.

I waved then continued to walk to my room. I made it there without being bugged by anyone else. I walked over to the balcony and looked down at the black nothingness below. The sky still had some remains of light that had not yet given up to the darkness.

I woke up when I felt a presence I’m my room. I looked around and saw a shadowed figure standing on the balcony.

"Who’s there?" I asked continuing to watch him.

"No one in particular," He replied, his voice soft.

"Who are you? Tell me!" I commanded trying to make my voice sound strong and unafraid. But it betrayed me but he didn’t seem to take notice.

"No one you know." he replied.

"Well then who are you?" I stood and started to approach the balcony. “And what are you doing here?”

"Ah...sorry but I cannot answer that." his voice was smooth and warm yet very cold at the same time.

"And why not?" he turned to look at me, smiled and turned to look over the balcony again.

"Your not even supposed to know that I exist." his voice breaking up and was full of sorrow.

"So why did you come here then?" I asked walking towards him.

"Because I had to meet you." he replied and turned back to face me. His beautiful blue eyes cut through the darkness, shinning brighter then the moon.

"So why can’t I know who you are?" I asked. "If you don’t want me to tell anyone you were here then I wont." he turned away. "You can trust me." he rested his arms on the rail and sighed.

"I know I can." he said. "Its just I’ll probably be killed for coming to talk to you." He walked towards me and held my chin so he was looking into my eyes. He had long hair that was falling over his shoulder. I couldn’t see much of his face but his eyes were cutting though the darkness capturing mine. He smiled and beautiful smile then he bent his face down and softly kissed me.

He moved his mouth next to my ear. "My name is Aubrey." he whispered then disappeared.

I walked over to the side of the balcony. There was no sign of anyone or anything. The moon was being blocked out by some white rimmed black clouds. There was no sound but the rustle of wings that I guessed came from an owl that soon started hooting happily.

"Aubrey." I whispered. I retuned to my room and laid down in my bed thinking about the days events.

I was standing in the middle of a large room which was filled with people and some I recognized from walking around the house.

The room was decorated with dark colors, dark purple to black with some dark red in places. There were ribbons hanging from the walls. The only light was coming from the candles, which there were only a few, scattered around the room.

Everyone was dressed up. The women were wearing elegant dresses and their hair pulled up and wearing masks. The men were wearing elegant suits, that were more dressy then normal ones and, they were also wearing masks.

They were speaking and laughing but there was no noise, nothing made a sound. There was a band playing in the corner and people seemed to be enjoying the music.

I could tell everyone was a vampire. Some were staring in my direction with hungry eyes; some of their eyes were already turning red with the thought of blood.

A tall guy wearing a black mask with some blue stones on the outside of it walked over to me, smiling. He held out his hand, and I took his hand in mine. He had two beautiful blue eyes the color of sapphires and midnight black hair tied back in a low ponytail.

He smiled revealing two sharp vampire teeth, his smile looked familiar. His eyes were turning red.  I tried to speak but couldn’t find my voice. He pulled me close and we silently danced to no music.

The silence was making me go crazy; I needed some kind of sound, anything to keep me sane. I tried to talk again but he only smiled in reply. The vampire stopped dancing and looked me in the eyes, still smiling.

He leaned in and kissed me slightly then kissed my neck, sending shivers down my spin. I tried to pull away but failed. ‘Stupid vampires and their inhuman strength,’ I thought

There was a small pain and everything became loud again. I could hear the music, the talking and laughing and mostly I could hear the beat of my heart. The beating wasn’t regular beating but quickened and in a terrible rhythm.

The pain on my neck was hurting more and more. The vampire lifted his head, his beautiful blue eyes now turned fully blood red. He smiled, my blood running from his mouth to his chin.

I looked at his eyes, pleading them to help me as the darkness swallowed me up.

That was the first time that I had a dream other than the one of my first memory. Which surprised me, I thought I would dream that for all eternity. But I kind of wished that it was the other dream, the new one scared me. Was it the future, my future?

“Good morning” Kyo called happily opening the door. “Time to wake up, sleepy one.” He laughed as he sat down on the bed next to me. I opened one of me eyes and saw Kyo’s smiling face.

“Can’t I sleep in just this once?” I pleaded.

“Well today I have something special planed. So I need you to get up.” He smiled “I’ll wait out in the hallway. Don’t take to long ok.” He walked out of the room and closed the door quietly behind him.

I got out of bed and changed into black t-shirt, black pants and pulled my hair into a ponytail. I walked out into the hall. Kyo wrapped his arm around my waist and we walked silently to the dinning room, where I grabbed something to eat and we walked outside to the garden next to the pond, were we sat in the grass while I ate.

“So where are we going today?” I asked. He turned to me with a big grin on his face, his eyes lit up.

“It’s a secret.” He said putting his finger to his lips. “But we better get going before it gets any later.” He stood up and easily picked me up.

“Hey! No! You know that I hate to be picked up. Put me down!” I screamed. He just laughed and told me to be quiet. I have always hated to be held and it would never probably change. Kyo just found it amusing.

He started running. It was weird; when a vampire was running it didn’t feel like we were moving and they didn’t make much noise either. Everything was passing by so quickly it was hard to figure out where we were. All I could make out were green splotches and sometimes a different color but it was gone in the next second. Soon instead of green there was light blue.

I closed my eyes trying to picture where Kyo was taking me, but since I had no clue of where we were going, I soon gave up. Kyo’s movements were graceful so I hardly noticed when we stopped.

“We’re here.” He whispered. “You can open your eyes now. I didn’t scare you that much did I?”

“You didn’t scare me at all.” I said. Kyo put me down, and laughed as I stumbled around trying to regain my lost balance.

“Then why were your eyes closed?” He asked. I looked at his face. His grey eyes looking into mine and holding them there, his shoulder length black hair was waving in the wind, and he was smiling his beautiful smile.

“Because I was tired,” I said. He looked at me like I was lying, and then smiled his beautiful smile.

“So do you like it here?” He asked. I looked around taking in my surroundings for the first time since we arrived. We were standing on a hill next to a huge lake. The water reflected the sky and was a clear beautiful crystal blue, and it was extremely peaceful.

“Wow it’s so beautiful here. Where are we?” I asked standing by Kyo, holding onto his arm for support. His eyes were sparkling.

“It’s just a lake I found when I first came here. Every time I come here there is never anyone else. It’s like my own place. I come here when I need to think.” He smiled and wrapped his arm around my shoulders. “And I thought you might like to see it. You are the very first person that I’ve brought here.”

                “Really? Wow…” I muttered.

“I’m glad you like it.” He turned to face me. And bent his face down and he pressed his lips gently against mine. “I love you Akai.” He whispered resting his head on my shoulder so his forehead was touching my neck.

“I love you too Kyo.” I hugged him and looked over to the lake. We sat at the lakes edge and talked for a couple of hours, throwing rocks into the lakes glassy surface.

“We should be getting back now. They will start to wonder what I’ve done with you.”  He smiled and picked me up. “You look tired.”

                “Just a little.” I muttered.

“Well go to sleep and I will wake you when we get home.” He kissed the top of my head as I closed my eyes.

“Akai?” a soft voice whispered. I opened my eyes to find a dark room.

“Kyo? Is that you?” I asked the darkness.

“No, don’t tell me you’ve already forgotten me.” A dark figure appeared on the balcony and silently entered the room.

“Aubrey?”

“The one and only,” He walked closer to the bed. “So how have you been, little one?” he sat on the edge of the bed, his smile barely visible through the darkness

“Fine, and don’t call me little one!” I said sitting up.

“Fine, fine.” he said. “So how was your little date with Kyo?” He looked at me with his gorgeous blue eyes.

“How did you know I went with Kyo today?” I asked, his eyes had caught mine and were holding my gaze there.

“I know more than you think I do, Akai.” He whispered. He was now sitting next to me though I didn’t remember seeing him move. I could feel his breath on my neck.

“That’s only slightly creepy.” I mumbled looking away from his eyes. “What do you want?”

“Why so harsh now Akai?” he asked bringing his face inches from mine. I brought my gaze back to his, his face still almost completely shadowed. “Well if you must know I only want one person. And I want to protect that one person when the time comes.” He whispered.

“What’s going to happen?” I asked. “And who are you going to protect?”

He smiled revealing his sharp vampire teeth. “I’m sorry, I can’t answer the first part to that, but the second is…” he stopped and pointed to me “you, Akai. It’s you that I need to protect.”

“Why…”

“That’s enough questions for tonight;” he interrupted “don’t you think.”  I went to speak but was cut off by a kiss. “Until next time, my love.” Then he was gone. There was a small creak when my bedroom door was opened.

“Akai who are you talking to?” Nikolas asked as he opened the door.

“Hmm….oh no one…I must have been sleep talking I guess.” I smiled at him hoping he didn’t hear Aubrey’s voice.

“You’re a weird one you know that.” He smiled. “Well get some sleep. I’ll see you in the morning.”

“Yeah, good night.” I rolled over and fell into a dreamless sleep.

Kyo had been my friend for as long as I could remember. He was at the house when Damien and I first arrived, and he never left my side when I was getting over my mothers passing and we became inseparable and still are to this day. Kyo had always been my friend through thick and thin.

He was Damien's true son, so he is always trying to live up to his father’s expectation while trying to impress me. The two weren’t a very good combination.

I have known Damien my entire life. He was best friends with both of my parents. When my father died, my mom made him promise to take care of me incase anything happened to her.

I don’t know if my parents knew Damien was a vampire and often wonder how much different my life would be now if they did know.

During my first month living with Damien I was sure he was going to send me away because of my amazing ability to annoy. But he slowly has learned to ignore me when I get annoying, which is hard for almost anyone other than him.

Then about two years after that Nikolas joined us. Damien had found him when he was newly changed and felt pity on him. Nikolas' creator left him as soon as the change was finished.

Kyo has never trusted Nikolas. He said 'that he's a blood thirsty monster that will kill you if you let him.'

I’ve always liked him, even though Kyo's constant warnings to avoid him. He had never given me a reason not to trust him.

I stared at the ceiling and the many faces of the posters stared back at me. I rolled over to stare out at the balcony where Aubrey comes every night.

Who was Aubrey really? What does he want to protect me from? And why am I not supposed to know he's alive?

And also who was the guy in my dream? Was it Aubrey or someone else who shared his beautiful blue eyes?

"Akai, are you awake?" Nikolas asked opening the door and walking in, a small smile on his face.

"Yeah." I muttered pulling the blankets over my head.

"Damien and Kyo left early this morning. For something, I really don’t remember what." Nikolas said. "Sorry." he pulled the blankets back to uncover my face and I smiled at him.

"It’s ok" I muttered. I have grown accustomed to Kyo and Damien leaving every month or so. I figured it was because they needed to feed but they would just say that it’s nothing I need to worry about. And not even Nikolas would tell me anything about it.

"So they'll be back in a couple of days then?" He nodded. "So what are we going to do today?" I asked he looked over and shook his head.

"Kyo told me to stay away from you while he's gone. Something about not trusting me. I really shouldn’t be talking to you right now." he kissed the top of my head. "Sorry Akai. Maybe some other time." He smiled a sorrowful smile then left the room.

"Thanks Kyo." I spat. "Leave me here by myself and then you won’t even let me hang out with Nikolas!" I got out of bed and got dressed in a plain black t-shirt and black pants. I brushed out my hair and decided to leave it down for today.

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. I returned to my room and got out my favorite book and read until I heard a soft noise come from the balcony

I looked over and saw the beautiful blue eyes that belonged to my nightly visitor.

"Hello Aubrey." I said putting the book away.

"Hello Akai." He said entering the room. "So Kyo left you alone all day today? “

"Yeah and he wont let me and Nikolas hang out until he gets back, something about not trusting him like always." I said. "And like I said last night, that’s really creepy." I walked over to him.

"Is it?" He asked. "But you know Kyo never said you couldn’t hang out with me."

"That’s because they don’t know about you." I replied. Aubrey walked out into the light. So for the first time I could see his face clearly. It was like the face in my dream except his face was not as dark as the one in my dream, it somehow looked sad. It was the same yet totally different.

"Do you trust me Akai?" he asked holding out his hand.

"You've never given me a reason not to." I told him and took his hand in mine and he used it to draw me closer to him.

"Now, nobody can find out about what we are about to do. Got it?" I nodded and we walked out onto the balcony. Aubrey wrapped his arms securely around my waist.

"Don't be afraid." There was a soft rustling sound and the ground disappeared from under us.

"Pretty cool, huh." he said. I looked up and saw two black wings attached to Aubrey back. We soon flew over Fujiyama which was about a mile away from the house. The town looked so much different from above. It almost looked peaceful, even though I knew on the streets there really was no peace. We slowly started to decline. The beat of Aubrey’s wings was quiet and it was hard to hear over my loud heartbeat.

We stopped at a hill just outside the city. The wind was blowing slightly making the leaves of the tall tree sway and the grass move slightly.

"So that’s how you get on my balcony each night?" I asked and he nodded. "Amazing." he leaned down next to a tall tree. He looked just like a gothic fallen angel. His long black hair waving in the small breeze, and his black wings only adding to his beauty. I walked over and stood next to him.

"Can I touch your wings?" I asked moving closer to him. He looked at me then smiled.

"Yeah, just don’t pull out any feathers or I might have to bite you to make up for it." he laughed and looked up into the dark night sky.

His wings were soft and warm and the dim light danced off of each of the feathers.

"So you're and angel and a vampire?" I asked, starring at him. His eyes caught mine and he nodded.

"Nope just a vampire who was lucky enough to be born with wings nothing special really." He lay back on the grass.

I lay next to him and he wrapped his arm around me waist and pulled me close.

"I think it’s amazing." I whispered.

"Really?"

"Really." I snuggled closer to him and slowly drifted to sleep.

"Akai, Get away from him!" Kyo ordered his voice angry, his eyes turning black. "He only wants to hurt you!" I looked back at Aubrey who was looking at me. His face looked worried and hurt. His blue eyes were turning black with red flakes in them.

"Do you trust me Akai?" His eyes caught mine and he held out his hand, he half smiled revealing a vampire fang.

"Don't trust him! Please, if you never listen to a thing I say ever again just listen to me now! He's not who you think he is." Kyo continued to yell. “All he wants is to drink your blood and to kill you! Please Akai!”

"Akai! Listen to Kyo and me, please." Nikolas begged his eyes were black and full of worry. I looked back up at Aubrey. He was changing, becoming darker, like he was in my previous dream.

"Aubrey," I asked "are you ok?" he looked at me. His blue eyes now turning red.

"Trust me Akai. I won't hurt you." His vampire teeth had grown even sharper and longer.

"I’m sorry, Aubrey, but I-I don't believe you. You're scaring me." I turned and ran towards Nikolas and Kyo. They both grabbed me into their arms, holding me close. There was the sound of Aubrey’s wings opening and him flying towards us. Kyo and Nikolas held me tighter as I felt a pain on my back and I screamed.

"Akai are you ok?" Nikolas asked "I heard you screaming."

"Yeah, just a nightmare."

"I thought that dream didn’t bother you anymore." He said with a worried expression. He walked in and sat on the side of my bed.

"I don’t think it was that dream. It was a new one." I replied.

"What was it about?"

"I don’t remember." I lied. I remembered every horrifying detail of the dream, but if I told him then I would have to tell him about Aubrey. And I couldn't betray Aubrey’s trust, no matter what my dreams kept telling me about him.

"Are you sure?" I nodded. "Ok. If you need anything scream." he said with a small laugh. He kissed the top of my head before he left the room.

I tried to comprehend what the dream was trying to tell me. Why were Nikolas and Kyo afraid of Aubrey? And why did he look so, not himself, so much darker and so evil? And why was he attacking us?          Was Aubrey truly evil? Was that what all of my dreams were trying to tell me? Trying to tell me to leave him alone to stay away from him?
"Akai? Are you awake?" Kyo's voice asked.
"Yeah," I sat up and Kyo sat next to me. "So where did you go this time?" he smiled but didn’t answer
"Why wont you answer me?" I asked. "And more important why did you tell Nikolas to stay away from me?"
"So Nikolas came to talk to you even after I told him-" Kyo started to say.
"No he didn’t!" I yelled. "I was going down to breakfast and I noticed him standing in the hallway and he refused to talk to me!"
"You’re lying aren’t you?" Kyo whispered. Looking into my eyes, I quickly looked away.
"So what if I am?! I will decide who I give my trust to and who I can and will talk to!"
"I know. I just don’t want you to get hurt." Kyo said.
"And I believe he won’t hurt me just as much as I believe you won’t hurt me." I said looking at the bed to avoid Kyo's eyes.
"What were you dreaming about last night? Nikolas told me you were screaming." He asked, worry in his voice.
"Oh it was just a nightmare. I don’t remember anything about it." I looked up to see his eyes.
"Nothing at all?" he asked. "And no more lies please."
"Well you and Nikolas were in the dream along with someone else, someone I didn’t know." Kyo had a serious look on his face. "I really don’t know why I screamed it wasn’t that scary."
"What was his name Akai, I know you know it." he put his hands on my shoulders and felt his eyes on mine.
                "I’m sorry Kyo, I don’t." I whispered looking into his eyes. 'I'm sorry Kyo but I won’t betray Aubrey’s trust' I thought.
                "Akai."
"I’m sorry Kyo."  He sighed and stood up and walked out of the room. "I really am sorry Kyo." I muttered softly the laid back, pulling the blankets over my head and went to sleep. I didn’t dream at all but when I was almost asleep I heard a voice.
"Thank you Akai." the voice said softly. "Thank you, even though I don’t deserve your trust. Thank you."

"Akai" a Nikolas softly whispered. I lifted my blanket and looked out. Nikolas was sitting on the side of my bed.
                "Hey Nikolas," I replied.
"Kyo's very upset; he wants to know why you don’t trust him."
"I trust him with my life." I replied
"Then why won’t you tell us his name. Tell me if you have to. Please Akai" Nikolas pleaded.
"But I promised him I wouldn’t. Actually I think I just broke my promise to him by telling you about him." I said looking at the bed.
"Please, just a name." He pleaded.
"Why do you want to know his name so bad?"
"Because there is a vampire here, in town, and well lets just say he's not the nicest." Nikolas muttered "I know you are talking to someone, I heard his voice the other night. Please Akai. I’m worried about you." He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me close to him.
"But I don’t want to loose his trust. Next time I see him I’ll ask for his permission to tell you or Kyo, ok?" he looked at me with sorrowful eyes.
"Sometimes I hate how stubborn you can be," he paused and pulled me into a tight hug. "But if you weren’t I wouldn’t be able to talk to you because of Kyo." he kissed my forehead. "I love you Akai."
"I love you too Nikolas." I whispered.
"Damien is worried too." he said petting my hair. "About your visitor and you staying in bed most of the day." He laughed then stood up and swiftly picked me up.
"Now what do you say to some break... er dinner?" He laughed and started walking out of the room ignoring my protests to being carried.
He softly dropped me into a chair in the dinning room then went to get me some food.
He just kind of stood there staring at it for a while, every once and a while picking something up.
"I didn’t really know what you wanted so..." he smiled and set down a huge plate. “And I don’t really think a lot of it looks very appetizing.

"Thanks." I grabbed some food and ate. Nikolas just sat next to me, eyes exploring the room. "We should go for a walk around the garden." I said after I had finished my food and he nodded in reply.
I finished and threw away the remainder of the food. Nikolas took my hand and we walked out into the garden. The sky already starting to darken and the colorful picture the sun had painted slowly disappearing along with the sun.
"Is Kyo mad at me?" I asked.
"Just disappointed and worried about you." He gently squeezed my hand and smiled.
We sat down next to the pond and lay back on the cold grass. There were stars shinning in the darkened sky.
Nikolas lay down next to me and wrapped his arm around my waist.
                "Never leave me ok Nikolas."
"I promise. I will never leave you ok." He kissed my head.
"And if Kyo even tells you to leave me alone again, don’t listen to him."
"Ok, even though he will probably rip my head off for it I won’t listen to him."
                "Thanks"
"Yeah, Yeah." he said. I nestled my head closer to his chest and he rested his chin on the top of my head and I fell asleep.

When I woke up I was back in my room. There was the same familiar shadow on the balcony.
"Hey," I whispered walking over to him. He pulled me into a quick hug.
"Hey." he replied, but his voice was, different it had changed.
                "What’s wrong?" I asked
"They found out about me." He replied darkly looking out over the garden.
"Yes I’m sorry."
"Its fine, go ahead and tell them my name. I’m not the enemy the think I am." he turned and wiped a piece of loose hair from my face. "But don’t tell them about me taking you flying." he smiled and kissed my neck. "I’ll be willing to meet with them, but only if they suggest it. I’ll see you tomorrow night. Get some rest "And he was gone. I walked slowly out onto the balcony. There was no moon tonight.

I went down early the next morning. Most of the vampires hadn't returned from hunting and the other humans were still asleep.

The tables were covered with food like always. I grabbed something small and sat down in one of the dark corners.

The dinning room was lit only by candles which were placed on the tables with food  and some of the tables surround it also the dinning room didn’t have any windows.

"So why are you up this early" a dark voice asked.

"Couldn't sleep and you?" I asked turning to face Jagger.

"Hmmm...Just bored and hungry." he smiled, revealing his razor sharp vampire teeth. I shook my head and turned away from him.

"What?" he asked "I didn’t feed off humans this time."

                "Really? Then what?"

"A rabbit." he replied. "Wasn’t all that good though, but I had no choice, all the humans I had gathered had gotten a nasty case of death." he laughed and deep evil laugh that sent a chill down my spine.

"You’re disgusting" I spat at him. I stood up and headed for the door.

"Where are you going?" he asked blocking my way, smiling.

"Away from you." I said turning for the other door.

"Oh come on." he said. "Don’t leave me here alone." he smiled. "You know what was really disgusting? That rabbit, I need something to wash out the taste." he revealed his vampire teeth.

"No! Stay away from me Jagger!" I screamed backing up.

"Don’t worry it wont hurt much and it will be over soon." he grabbed my shoulders in his rock hard grip.

"Jagger don’t you dare!" I said trying unsuccessfully to break away. He smiled and leaned down so his lips where just inched from my neck. I could feel his breath on my neck.

"Oh I dare." he kissed my neck and was followed by a sharp pain as his teeth pierced my neck.

"Jagger please." I barely managed to whisper. He released my neck just as I was being consumed by the darkness, but not because he wanted to. Someone else was in the room.

"Wh-what are you doing here?" Jagger asked, voice shaken with fear.

"I’m going to kill you for what you did to Eurydice." Said a cool voice that I knew belonged to Aubrey.

"Why are you protecting her Aubrey?" Jagger asked, still backing away. My Eyelids were getting heavy. I tried to move my arm but it wouldn’t.

My eyes would no longer stay open and my mind gave into the darkness.

There was a sharp pain on my neck. My head was all dizzy and I couldn’t figure out anything. I couldn’t remember what had just happened.

I opened my eyes but regretted doing so. My head spun even worse then it had been. I brought my hand to my head and it made it a little better.

"Eurydice" a voice I didn’t recognize called. "Hey Damien she's awake!" Suddenly the quiet room grew very loud.

"Eurydice" I opened my eyes. There were a lot of people surrounding my bed. Nikolas, Damien, Kyo and Aubrey. Aubrey!

He smiled a reassuring smile. Kyo handed me a glass of water, which I accepted gratefully.

"How are you feeling?" Nikolas asked.

"Not that good." I tried to say but my voice kept breaking up, but they seemed to understand.

"She needs to rest." Damien said shooing everyone away from my bed. He bent down and kissed the top of my head. "Get better soon ok."

Aubrey waved and gave me a small smile before he left the room.

I lay back down and closed my eyes but I could not find sleep. I put my hand on my neck that was now wrapped in a bandage.

I flinched as it caused a steam of pain to go rushing from my neck. I tried to get up, but failed and fell to the floor with a loud thump.

"Ow." I said as a new pain hit me. The door opened slightly.

"Damien told you to stay in bed and what do you do? You fall out of bed." Nikolas said as he walked into the room.

"I know but I wanted to freshen up." I muttered. "I thought it would make me feel better."

"The only thing that will make you feel better is for you to get some rest." he picked me up and set me down on the bed. He pulled up the blanket and laid down next to me.

"So what happened to him? And what happened after I passed out?" I asked

"Well Aubrey hurt Jagger pretty badly. Once Damien and Kyo arrived, well um, lets just say there is no more Jagger." he said

"So you all know about Aubrey?" he nodded.

"We owe him a lot for saving you. But Damien does not trust him; he always has someone watching him."

                "Why?! You can trust Aubrey."

"Because he refuses to talk to anyone until he has seen you. And that worries him." Nikolas said.   "And Kyo trusts him as much as he trusts me."

I shook my head and looked out the balcony. "So even though he saved my life he still won’t trust him."

"Well get some rest ok." Nikolas stood up and walked out of the room. I grabbed the nearest book and started to read, until my energy left and I fell asleep.

--------------------------*Dream*-------------------------

I was flying through the night sky. Aubrey’s arms wrapped around my waist.

"I’m so glad your ok." he whispered. "But I have to leave." the soft movement of his wings was peaceful.

"Ill be killed it the vampires you live with find out what I really am. And if my people find out that I have revealed myself ill be killed." he kissed my head. "I sorry Eurydice." as soon as he finished speaking the dream changed back to my earliest memory.

---------------------*end of dream*------------------------

"Aubrey." I whispered. "Nikolas!" I screamed and he poked his head through the doorway.

"What?" he asked slowly entering the room?

"Go get Aubrey; please I want to talk to him."

"I’m sorry Eurydice, but he left early this morning." Nikolas replied. "He said he already said goodbye to you and that he wouldn’t be back. It made Kyo happy though."

"Of course it made Kyo happy." I spat. So the dream wasn’t actually a dream, it was a real nightmare.

"I’m sorry." Nikolas said. "Aubrey seemed really sad at leaving." he gave me a hug.

"Do you want anything to eat?" I nodded and he left the room.

"So Aubrey really left." a tear started to form in my eye but I wiped it away before it could fall.

Was that the only reason he had come for? To protect me from Jagger, then leave?

And why would anyone kill him for beings something that was so much like them?

Was he so much different than Nikolas or Kyo?

Nikolas entered the room and dropped off a tray and promised to return later.

I was happy Nikolas didn’t stay and because he didn’t notice the tears in my eyes. No matter how many times I wiped them away they kept showing up.

I couldn’t believe that Aubrey had really left and that I would probably never see him again. That we would never go flying again and that I would never see his beautiful blue eyes again.

I barely touched the food Nikolas brought me. I just wasn’t hungry.

I placed the food on the end table and noticed a small folded piece of paper. I grabbed the note and read the contents written in Aubrey’s messy handwriting.

Good bye Eurydice. I love you and will never forget you and how trusting you were

                                     Aubrey

The note brought forth more tears as I reread it.

I grabbed my scrap book and placed it in one of the blank pages.

My scrap book had no actual pictures, since vampires don’t show up. All that was in it were pictures I had drawn and pieces of paper that listed things I didn’t want to forget.

There were pictures I had drawn since I first came here, that mostly looked like a squiggly line with eyes and Kyo’s name written sloppily on the bottom of the page.

I grabbed a fresh sheet of paper and started to draw. I drew Aubrey’s face first then his beautiful elegant wings. I shaded in parts to make it more life like. Then I took out a blue colored pencil, which matched his eyes, and added color to his beautiful eyes and at the bottom of the page I wrote in fancy gothic letters 'My Guardian Angel.'

The next couple of days were better and worse. I could walk for a few minutes but couldn’t make it out of my room.

Each day Aubrey’s leaving got a little better. Kyo and Nikolas were always in my room trying to cheer me up. Every night I had a new dream, all it ever was, was Aubrey and me going flying.

I wondered why Damien and the others would kill him if the knew who he really was.

Nikolas would carry me out to the pond every night and we would sit and talk for hours, saying whatever popped into our heads.

“Nikolas is there a type of vampire that other vampire hate?” I asked picking strands of grass and putting them into a pile.

“Well not that I know of, but I don’t really pay attention to those things. I know the vampires who can’t go out in the sun hate the day walkers.”

“But there’s no one type of vampire that would be killed by other vampires just for being that?”

“Where are all these questions coming from?” he asked smiling.

“I don’t know. Just being stuck in my room all day gives me time to think.” I replied.

“You’ll have to ask Damien or someone else.” He said gazing over the pond. There was a slight breeze. The Koi were swimming close to the waters edge. The silvery scales reflected off the fast fading light. The sun was painting a beautiful picture in the sky with a mixture of pink and purple.

“Could you do me a favor?”

                “What is it?”

“Ask Damien about what we were talking about today please.” He nodded and picked me up. The sky was now completely dark and I watched it for any movement.

I really wished Aubrey hadn’t left.

When we got back to my room he set me on my bed and sat next to me for a few moments.

“You need to rest. I’ll come back later promise.” He muttered then left the room.

------------------------------------------------*Dream*-----------------------------------------

The winds howling voice rang through the night air. There was a slight movement in the window as another gust of wind blew out the only candle.

"Nikolas?" I barely managed to whisper. "Is that you?" The only answer was a flash of lightning that lit up the figures face. His eyes were blood red, he had midnight black hair down to his shoulders and he was smiling revealing two razor sharp teeth.

"Who are you?" I asked looking into the spot that his eyes were once at.

"That’s the least of your worries now little one." his voice was cold and smooth. I looked around for anything but the room was to dark to see anything other than the window.

The rain was beating on the window as if it was begging to get in.

I had been raised by a vampire since I was 5 years old and was taught how to defend myself against a vampire. First thing: keep talking; know where he is, while trying to find something sharp.

My eyes continued to scan the room.

"Find what you are looking for?" he said. "Would it help if I turned on a light?" there was a flash of lightning and all five candles were lit once again.

The vampire was standing across the room still smiling. There were only 3 things in the room. The candles, which were too high for me to reach, the vampire and me.

'Crap' I thought. The vampire was slowly approaching.

"Did that help any?" he said "can I offer any other help before I dine?" he stopped as if reading my mind and took out a small knife. He showed me it, the reflection of the shiny metal danced on the walls.

"Here" he said as his smile faded. He threw the small knife into the wall opposite of the door.          "Now here’s your choice." he started to walk towards me. "Will you head for the door or the knife?" he said, his smile slowly returning, his eyes were turning an even redder color. I looked at the door then to the knife. I could probably make it to the door but he would probably catch me before I made it out of the house.

If I went for the knife then at least I could have some way to protect myself from him, but the knife was stuck pretty securely into the wall. Could I get it out before he got to me? No, probably not.

So my only hope now is to run towards the door and hope there’s something in the rest of this house that I could use.

"Have you made up your mind yet?" he said getting impatient. "Or if you don’t want to run or fight you can make it easy and just give up."

I gave one glace at the knife and ran for the door. I quickly glanced behind me while I was in the halls running around any corner that would bring me closer to the way out, and there he was just walking after me.

'Damien.' I thought. I rounded the corner and saw the door, the door that would lead me out of this nightmare. I ran and grabbed the handle and opened it. It opened about and inch before it slammed back shut.

"Sorry." he smiled, his eyes were now fully red. "Caught you." he grabbed my wrist. I tried to pull away even though I knew it was pointless. He pulled me back through the house, I tried to remember the way back out incase I got another chance.

He stopped and turned towards me.

"Now" he wrapped his arm around my waist and brushed the hair out of my face. "Sorry but that has to go." he undid my black choker and threw it across the room. "Much better." he whispered kissing my neck.

"Now on with dinner." I looked up at his blood red eyes before closing mine. I felt a sharp pain as his teeth pierced my neck. He moved his one hand up my neck to support my head as I slowly started to loose consciousness.

This is a story i really wish to finish but no ideas have poped into my head since the first idea. The title of this story is Demons Bleed, Angels Cry....And is written by Eurydice shadowcry

Chapter one: the demon and the fallen

Fangs eye’s searched the dark ground below looking for any sign of movement. It was a quiet peaceful night. The only sound was the slight sound from her wings as they flapped up and down in a rhythmic motion. The sky was perfectly clear, not a cloud in sight.

She landed silently on the edge of a building. The night was too peaceful, and that worried her. She pulled her wings against her back. She hated nights that lasted this long.

Fang closed her eyes, listening hard. At first she heard nothing, and then there was a screeching of tires and a woman’s high pitched scream. It might have been a demon, but probably not. Demons normally don’t drive when they are hunting, they hardly drive at all. It is probably some headstrong idiot who thinks he can rape, steal from and kill anyone he wanted to.

Humans are violent creatures.

Humans are evil and stupid and will cause their own demise.

She headed in the direction of the scream. In a dark muddy alley two figures were fighting over a purse. One: a guy, tall and muscular and from the smell really needed a bath. He was holding a knife.

The other a woman, was small and a little overweight. She had blonde short hair and wore a lot of jewelry. Probably some rich snob that likes to show the world she has money.

One thing Fang can’t figure out about humans is why a human would trade their life to protect a piece of invaluable metal. What humans don’t seem to understand is that those things can be replaced life cant.

Fang jumped to the ground and opened her wings high above her head. Since he was human she wasn’t allowed to kill him, she could only kill demons or thinks that were already dead, or marked.

The thief looked at her first with a look of anger, and then it changed to a look of pure fear. His mouth opened and his face turned white. He was gripping the knife so hard she could smell the blood from where his fingernails punctured the skin.

“Go, get home,” she said to the lady. She nodded easily taking the purse away from the petrified thief.

“You, idiot” Fang said, pointing at him. Let me make this clear, you can’t go around doing whatever you want to whoever you want. You can’t steal, kill or ruin other people’s life. “She stopped, she was shaking. She easily took the knife from him. “One more chance, I should kill you but I’m feeling nice.  Don’t ever do anything like this again or I will kill you.” She made a small deep cut on his wrist. Now he was marked. Now he could be killed by any other fallen that catches him.

“Remember one more chance; change your life, no more crime.” She said before opening her wings and flying on top the nearest building. She watched the thief for a while. He mostly stood there looking for her. Then after five minutes or so he ran off into the darkness.

She jumped off the top of the building, doing a flip before landing quietly on the ground. She smelled a demon; she halfway unsheathed her katana, her eyes searching the darkness.

“How sweet, Fangs turned nice. Are you going to show me the same sympathy? Are you going to spare me?” Fang through a small knife into the darkness in the direction the voice had come. He laughed.

“Go away Solitaire or I will kill you.” Fang replied.

“You will?” He asked in fake amazement. “You’ve never managed to before so why know?”

“Because you are ticking me off.” She said while unsheathing her katana fully.

“Well then let’s play.” He said with a smirk, taking out his sword. She charged at him and he easily dodged, laughing at her failed attempts to injure him. He liked fighting way too much, heck he lived to fight. His sword met hers and the sounds of metal hitting metal echoed into the distance.

They were close to even when they were fighting, but that’s when they were fighting fair. But he was a demon and she a fallen and they both didn’t know the meaning of fighting fair.

He had managed to get in a quick attack that made a small shallow cut in her side. She attacked towards his shoulder and his sword was there to meet hers, but before he could make a move she kicked him hard in the stomach.

He paused while he regained his breath and she put her swords blade against his neck.

He started laughing, a deep evil laugh that could only belong to a demon.

“What?” Fang snapped at him.

“You won’t do it.” He replied.” I know you and you won’t kill me.”

“And why not?” She snarled back in reply.

“Because you love me.” He was right, sort of, she did care about him. But she wasn’t sure if love was the right word.  But caring for him made everything to complicated. The one thing she’s supposed to do, kill everything evil that threatens to destroy humanity, excluding humans, and she starts to get feelings for one.

“But you would kill me,” she said without hesitation, “given the chance. Why don’t I return the favor?”  There was something about him. Like she knew him since the first time they met. Both of them tried to kill each other but when the time came to strike the finishing blow something stopped them.

Fang sighed and removed the blade form his neck. He stood up, slowly wiping the mud off his jeans. She looked to the ground and he took the opportunity and kicked her. His foot hitting the back of her neck, sending her into the wall. She slid to the ground and looked back at him.

“Revenge, babe,” He said when he caught her loathsome glare, “well if we are done playing now.” He paused and watched Fang stand up, one hand on the back of her neck. “It’s been fun babe, put some ice on that.” He said with a smirk. “Ciao.” He jumped up the sides of the two buildings and within a few seconds was completely out of sight.

"Jerk” Fang mumbled. She brushed off most of the mud and took to the skies again. “Next time I will kill you, you just wait.”

The rest of the night was pretty uneventful. She killed a few weak demons, nothing exciting. She was hoping to find a vampire. They always were a challenge to kill. But there weren’t many vampires around anymore; mostly all of them were killed by vampire hunters or the fallen.

Smarter vampires stayed away from well populated areas. They liked smaller cities but went to other surrounding towns hundreds of miles to hunt to escape detection.

Fang landed in the small room. She didn’t stay in the same place for long, maybe two, three nights at most. She didn’t have much stuff so it was easy to pick up and leave at a moment’s notice. Mostly weapons.

She had the basics for killing each of the creatures of evil she hunted. For vampires wooden stakes, cross and of course her katana helped to. For werewolves, silver bullets, silver swords. And for demons she had her katana specially made, its silver and was blessed during the processes of making it. It was the only holy object she had besides the cross.

The room was small and empty, the only things in it where her backpack and hammock. She kicked some of the empty cans lying around before going and sitting down on the hammock.

She dug in her bag, got out some bandages and started dressing her wounds. She had less then she thought the one on her side, one on her shoulder and a few shallow cuts on her arms. And there was a bruise forming on her forehead where Solitaire through her into the wall.

“Stupid Solitaire,” She mumbled as she laid down, staring at the ceiling. She lay on her side letting her wings hang off the side of the hammock. “I don’t understand why I can’t kill you. You’re just a demon, your evil and you are not supposed to be here. You’re supposed to die.”

Fang never had problems killing demons, only him. She didn’t even pity them anymore. But she just couldn’t explain the force that stopped her when she tried to kill him. And why did it have to be him? He was a jerk, a scumbag. Sure he was cute, but most demons were cute, that how they attracted people to them. People they would later kill.

Maybe she had known him before she died. Very doubtful, but not entirely out of the question. He hadn’t acted like he knew her when she had first tried to kill him, but he might be really good at hiding his emotions.

And if he didn’t know her, or care for her then why didn’t he just kill her when he got the chance. There were plenty of times he could have easily killed her but he didn’t. Did he just like toying with her?

There was a slight knock on the door. Fang knew instantly that it wasn’t something good. She didn’t know anyone besides a certain annoying demon.

She walked towards the door, silently unsheathing the katana. She reached the door, unlocked it and opened it slightly keeping her foot on the other side.

She peeked through the crack in the door. There was a pale guy in all black: vampire. He growled revealing two razor sharp canines.

“Hello.” He snarled and shoved the door open, making her fly backwards onto the floor. He was smiling as he walked towards her. His boots thumping on the floor whenever he walked. “You’ve got a date,” He paused and punched her hard, “with death.”

Amusing Quotes

For one of our Fanfictions called Myrnins assistants, we wrote down a bunch of quotes that came into our head. if you havent read the morganville vampires series by Rachel Caine you probably wont understand these. Myrnin- “your funny I like that in a snack… student… I meant student”

“I’m sorry it ended this way, but it was bound to happen sooner or later, better sooner. Plus you annoyed me.”

“You know the saying that people like me eat people like you for lunch… well I am more of a dinner person myself and you really are appetizing… c’mon just one little nibble?”

“How much would you hate me if I nibbled on your arm?”

“So would you find it overly creepy if I nibbled on your arm for a while?”

“Would you like to go out for a quick bite…you being the bite”

“Don’t run I never liked fast food.”

“I’m just going to eat you now and spare myself the drama and grief.”

“Tell you what… if my homework is scary I’ll just eat you now and scare you the fright… please?”

“Here’s one thing to think about before you die…I will be sorry afterword’s…just because I will be alone…but it won’t stay on my conscience for long, though.”

“Now where did I leave that last assistant.*lifts a pile of books.* I didn’t already eat her did I?”

“I will tell you the truth…I actually liked you….no wait…never mind…that was the last one.”

“After so long you all blend together. A dozen human thrown at me in the hopes I would suck you dry. Some days I truly hate myself.” Shrugs. “Those days don’t come often.” Bites down.

“My my I sure am popular…all of these assistants coming just so I can kill them”

“Some days I believe my other personality is actually the nice one.”

“Some days I truly hate myself.”

“One day I should really have an assistant that doesn’t smell appetizing.”

“One day I really should have an assistant put away these books. But I was never so good at delayed gratification.”

“Well I’m going to eat you now.”

“Why do all the smart assistants smell the best?”

“Does Amelie like seeing me torture all these delicious humans?”

“Hmmm… you fail on your homework. I guess it means I get to eat you.”

“Oh… you should probably do your homework.. Or else I might get annoyed and eat you.”

“You fail at life…you go bye, bye now.”

“Someday I ask myself why I can’t just let one of you live and the little voice that lives on my shoulder answers.. ‘Well duh they taste good.”

“If I seem to be a monster it is out of necessity sometimes life makes difficult demands and someone has to step up to the plate. I volunteered to kill in order to save lives. I truly regret what my life makes inevitable.”

“Oh, no. I killed another one.” *looks around room for hiding place. Then shrugs* “Amelie is going to be so annoyed. I wonder if she will believe I lost her.” *moves around a few piles of books*

“I only kill those the little voices tell me to… I hear a lot of voices.”

“I wish I could say I was doing the world a favor, but Amelie never brings any idiots.”

“Sometimes the world needs a little less smarts and a little more imagination. I’m just doing it a favor. One geek at a time.”

“Hey Amelie I learned a new trick, a network of interconnecting doorway for instantaneous travel. Now I can have a walk in diner from the comfort of my own home.”

*Paces back and forth* “Amelie, I don’t know how to tell you this….no no that’s all wrong….I might have….no….I already used that excuse…hmmm….o I know….no never mind….I got it…Amelie…” “You ate her again didn’t you?” “No….she bit me so I returned the favor.”

*paces back and forth* “Amelie I have grave news. I… nope already said that….. Now… hmmm..Phrasing is everything…. Think think…. Well…. I…. I know….. No… wait never mind…. If I were to tell you…..crap used that one to….” “You ate this one too.” She said coolly. Myrnin pouted. “Fun spoiler take away all the fun of inventing excuses I had the perfect one…. This one involved mutated cows with long vicious fangs.”
